I joined a sewing Block Party group at the craft store around the corner. (an amazing craft store that is dangerously too close to my home). What this means is that each month, all 12 of us make a block for one person's quilt. When it is your month, you hand out the block pattern and the fabric to everyone, so they can make their block, usually around 12 x 12 inches or so. At the end of that month, that person gets 12 blocks back that will be put together and become a quilt top! Its so fun! It is good practice, and I love being able to work with fabric that others selects. Kind of like trying it out. Our group is currently making a quilt for a friend of the group who is battling cancer at the moment. I just finished that block, love it!
I am making progress on my second ever quilt and wanted to show a little peak at the quilt backing. I decided to spice up the back a little since I had some fabric from the quilt top leftover. I LOVE this fabric. It is a lap size quilt for our living room. I just need to sandwich and quilt. Oh, and handstitch a binding...I will post a photo of the front when its done!!
